2009 Election Map: Annise Parker

As far as maps go in indicating where a candidate has performed well for Houston mayor, there's a lot to like about Annise's map. She killed where she needed to kill. And she either led, had a nice second-place showing, or ran well ahead of Locke in the areas she's likeliest to look for ways to add to her coalition.

After Election night, I felt Gene had a lot of advantages that favored him in the runoff, some of which still do: the ability to raise money, the initial connection to GOP voters, and a generally good presence in public settings. After seeing what the real estate looks like, however, I'm not so sure about that. How well the candidates raise money can still be the entire game for this race, but Annise is sitting pretty right about now ...
