2009 Election Map: Peter Brown

I ended up doing the GIS work the old fashioned way ... by entering data in by hand. The benefit of doing that is that you get a very intuitive feel for what the results will show. In Peter's case, it was as if he had 20-25% across the board, with a few dips and peaks here and there.

I think the best description of Peter's "coalition" is that he captured the long tail of voters nobody else was communicating with. And since he had the jack to spend on the airwaves, he got a good slice of them. Had this been a higher turnout affair, he probably would have fared much better. But since the universe was smaller, he was dealing with a higher percentage of voters who made their minds up on other factors.
