The Red River Gets Redder: Farabee Retires

Via BOR, I see that David Farabee is hanging it up in House District 69. you can see how red the district goes for candidates not named Farabee here and how it went for one named Obama here.

I'm inclined to agree with Phil's take at BOR that Farabee's retirement doesn't necessarily preclude all possibility of Democrats winning the majority of seats in 2010. But it definitely puts us one down in an already tough election cycle. There are still gains to be made by Dems in the lege (HD105, HD138, HD144 being among the most immediately challengable). But given the equally tough holds that we'll have to make in some of the seats won in 2008, it may be necessary to run the board on the few remaining opportunities for a pickup.
