I missed this from the weekend, but one item here warrants some attention.

Tucked away at the very end of an article about the anticipated GOP Gubernatorial primary of 2010:

Fort Worth lawyer Tom Schieffer, a former Bush-appointed ambassador exploring a run for governor as a Democrat, predicts Perry and Hutchison will turn off most voters by focusing on conservative-leaning primary voters.

"It gives somebody like me with a middle-of-the-road philosophy an opportunity to demonstrate what a common-sense approach can do," Schieffer said.

That's pretty much what Kuff was hoping for this time a month ago. Not quite the earth-shattering moment in time that I might have liked to see. But you know what they say about a journey of a thousand miles ....
