Novak Hearts Kline?
Robert Novak starts the vetting on Kathleen Sebelius. Remind me why any Democrat would want to pick a VP based on Novak's acceptance? It's a rather weak screed if you ask me. Phill Kline and the right wing of the Kansas GOP are as extreme as you can get among actively elected nutjobs (well, up there in the Tancredo range, I suppose). So Republicans want to side with Kline and his ilk all of a sudden? Great ... it makes the coming massacre incredibly entertaining to watch.
For the record, I still think Jim Webb ought to be viewed head and shoulders above the rest of the pack. But for those angling for a distant second, Sebelius is as good as you're going to find. After the way the Presidential primary has exposed a few cracks in Obama's rock star appeal, I'm not so sure a female Catholic governor really is terribly far behind the likes of Webb.
Jim Webb? Not for me.
Greg-
David Brooks has a much better analysis of who and why Obama and McCain should choose.

I've always been among those that views Pawlenty as making too much sense for McCain to pass up. But I think Brooks' suggestions for Obama are incredibly weak. There's quite a few other good names on any list before you get to Sam Nunn & Tom Daschle.
I thought Nunn would be your kind of guy...
In 1988, maybe. Beyond my own taste, however, I think some of his votes from the 1970s will be issues for the left wing of the party.
