Al Edwards' Friends
Via Kronberg
Some people never learn ...
Last week we reported that former state Rep. Al Edwards hadn't filed a 30-day report with the Texas Ethics Commission. He requested the waiver based on an intent to spend no more than $500 in his attempt to take back his House seat from Borris Miles (D-Houston.The word today from Edwards? Never mind.
Saying that he misunderstood the campaign limit, Edwards filed his 30-day report Feb. 7 - three days after filing deadline. That late report included this eyebrow-raising bit of news: $25,000 of the $25,150 raised in January by Edwards came in a single donation from noted GOP benefactor and Tom Craddick ally Bob Perry.
Al Edwards has been making a habit in his recent appearances that he never took Republican money in 2006 (when he had a GOP-supported fundraiser that brought in $50k). He also said he NEVER took Republican money.
Now we know that to be a lie.
Again.
Remind me why this embarrassment is a member of the DNC again?
