And a happy new year, indeed ....
I'm off to party. But you should seriously help get a new sheriff elected with me afterwards.

Happy New Year!
I hope2008 is a reat year for you and your blog.
Hi Greg,
It looks like things are starting to heat up in a lot of races in Harris County. For the most part,we have a good group of candidates this time around.
At the urging of fellow democrats and ardent supporters I am again a democrat candidate for Harris County Sheriff.
We certainly came a long way last time in 2004. After winning the Primary we only lost by just a bit under 5% of the vote in the November General election.
I have high hopes this election because of the excitement that is present and growing because of our national candidates.
After 28 years in Law enforcement, I retired and am presently active as a Police and Security consultant.
I am the only candidate in this upcoming primary that has come up through the ranks as a Sergeant,Lieutenant, Captain, and eventually a Chief. Law Enforcement leadership is a must if you expect the respect from your deputies.
I have plans to eliminate the discrimination and favoritism that is still prevalent within the Sheriff's Department. My concerns also include a larger, more visible presence in neighborhoods and to implement procedures toward promoting higher compensation and improving the rights of all deputies.
I will also institute a more positive community relationship and work toward a stronger working alliance with other agencies throughout our area.
I hope to visit with you again along the campaign trail and will be following your blog throughout.
See you soon,
GUY
Harris County deserves a Sheriff like Mr. Garcia I believe that he will united the community and bring Harris County into the 21 Century in law enforcement response and training for its officers, a better trained department under Sheriff Garcia is a win, win for all. I support Mr. Garcia because The People of Harris County deserve better, it's time for new leadership, and fresh start.
