Maggard Shifts His Picks: Pardee & Sumlin

Normally, I hate it when a day goes by without blogging. But apparently, it's a good thing I didn't waste too much time blogging about this two-day-old story that the UH coaching gig had come down to Haywood and Pardee. Because it seems that it's now bunk. Haywood's out of consideration, Sumlin's back in.

Interesting. I'm not sure to take this as a good or bad sign for Pardee. He's still in the mix, but apparently once Haywood was crossed off, Maggard added a name instead of locking up the one choice that's been on his short list all along. I'm sure there's some quality that Sumlin brings other than being the OU OC that hasn't sold me on him. But for whatever reason, I'm just not as excited about that pick as I was for Haywood. I suspect we'll see soon whether it matters. Maggard says "no timeline," but with coaches getting signed left and right, I have a hard time thinking Sumlin's going to be on the market forever.
