Paul to Supporters: Just Do It

» Ron Paul's Tight-fisted Campaign

Interesting quote to riff on ...

"They call us and say, 'Can you send me 20,000 handouts,' " said Kent Snyder, campaign chairman. "I tell them we can't afford it and to do whatever they want."

The whole story is worth a read as well. On one level, it supports my contention that Ron Paul's Presidential race is more about his Congressional race than anything else. But more importantly, the topic of the campaign turning things over in a very decentralized way to the yokels who view Ron Paul as some sort of cult savior also supports my contention that it is out-parties who are the first adaptors of more innovative campaign methods. It wasn't for nothing that innovators in this have historically been the campaigns of people like Forbes, McCain, Dean ... and to a lesser extent this go-round, Edwards. The quote by Snyder just distills this point down to a very functional reason for why it tends to happen in the first place.

Bonus points if you catch the cult reference in the title of the post.
