Trojans Start Playoffs Right

» FWST: Balanced attack is key to Trojans' easy victory

Rollin, rollin, rollin ...

For the second consecutive season, Euless Trinity opened the playoffs with one of its top running backs injured and watching from the sidelines.

With junior Dontrayevous Robinson on crutches Friday, the Trojans used both the run and pass. Quarterback Denarius McGhee threw for 208 yards and Trinity rushed for 205 on the way to a 31-0 victory over Arlington Martin in a Class 5A Division I bi-district playoff game at Birdville ISD Fine Arts/Athletics Complex.

From the sounds of it, Martin lost a great season to injuries at the end. It strikes me as nothing short of remarkable to see a Trinity boxscore with 200+ yards passing, though. I'm still recovering from the thought of it.

This week and next are, of course, mere formalities for one of those games that just comes too early in the brackets for Texas HS football. Here's hoping we don't get caught off guard against Lewisville looking forward to the Permian showdown next week.

ADD-ON: In local news, Katy managed to do just fine in their initial round as well.
