Mental Inventory Time

Just a heads up - or a word of warning - as we head into the Thanksgiving week. As part of my delayed birthday celebration and maybe leading into the turn of the year, I thought I'd use the opportunity to take stock of a number of things here on the old blog. I've been at this in one form or another for about 6 years, the blog as it's now known has turned 5 this past summer, and I've hit one of those numbers with a zero at the end.

Among the pleasures of blogging is that it forces you to be honest. And when you're not, there are others who will point that out. While some people seem to joust with that reality, I embrace it. Andrew Sullivan recently penned something along the lines of how blogging changes you ... for the better. I agree. For that reason, I think it's a vital part of the process to just take mental inventory and see what's solidified over the course of time. I've opined on a number of topics in the time this blog has been in action. Some, I haven't blogged about in a long time, some I've hit on continuously for way too long.

I'll try to keep things somewhat organized as I get going on the project. I've already been egged on to blog a bit on the issue of education. That's likely an easy one for me and it's an issue that's been on the backburner for a while here. By way of a warmup, though, I thought I'd blast a little video for the heck of it. This is a fairly decent ad that Barack Obama's running on the issue. Good as far as 30-second clips go. And since I knock the guy for being my #2 pick in the Presidential race this go-round, why not do something a little nice?

As for other topics, stay tuned ... or, if you prefer, skip the blog and come back when I'm celebrating Hillary's coronation.
