Belated Blogiversary Notice: Exiting Five, Entering Six
There should probably be more blogging going on here, but the toxic combination of working in politics and the recent Labor Day benchmark doesn't help much. Needless to say, Gregville is a busy place to be these days.
The unfortunate part of that is due to the fact that I've since passed by my 5th year blogiversary - Aug. 15 for the blog in its current iteration. I've still got till 10/5 to mark the official start of the domain, but that date really isn't much better for those working in "hackdom."
Even more unfortunate for two reasons:
First, there's a lot to discuss on the state of local political blogging. There's been several turns we've witnessed - hell, participated in - in the past. But the recent turns warrant a greater deal of thought than I have the personal bandwidth for right now. Maybe over the course of the next week or so I'll get to it. Keep hope alive.
Second, I'm also looking for a slice of time to move the blog over to Movable Type 4 and give the old lady an annual makeover. The downside of that is that a five-year-old blog (and accompanying database) requires a lot of care and technical attention. I'm currently testing the waters with an upgrade of the lesser-travelled blog (Now 30% more goat-free, but no promises for the future after THIS story). That experiment has had a few minor but annoying hiccups - primarily in the treatment of upgrades that rely on old MT3 code formatting with the newer, sleeker MT4 structure. But it also made commenting a buggy thing for a while. Irritating, but worth the wait to get it right.
For now, Happy Belated Blogiversary to me. Maybe the other bloggers at an upcoming Kuff Konfab will chip in to buy me a dessert as a blogiversary treat. Not that I'll slow my lecturing tirades and belligerent yelliing at them, mind you. I've got five solid years of reputation to live up to after all.
In the meantime, be on the lookout for an interview I had with Senate candidate Mikal Watts last week. Maybe posted around Thursday if I'm doing good.
