Kay's Next Move
» Chron: Hutchison says new career in private sector a possibility (Peggy Fikac)
For a "supposedly" liberal paper (according to a few, at least), the Chronicle sure does give KBH ample run to pretty much stake a claim to everything under the sun in this "interview."
Governor Kay? Maybe.
Senator Kay (again)? Maybe.
Private Citizen Kay (again)? Maybe.
VP Kay? Obligatory coyness.
I'm not sure what the point is unless it's to allow Peggy Fikac to do her best Karen Hughes impersonation as a member of the fourth estate. For what it's worth, this is billed as an exclusive interview for the Chronicle only.
Take THAT Fort Worth Star-Telegram!!!

Actually, she seems to be pretty clear that she's NOT interested in Veep. Maybe you just saw the headline.
And yes Greg, even a liberal fishwrap has to acknowledge the fact that there are Republicans in Texas.
Rest assured, I saw the article. I still chalk it up to obligatory coyness, which is precisely why I wrote what I wrote. Imagine that.
And I'm sure that if there were a liberal fishwrap operating out of 801TX, they'd have to acknowledge the existence of Republicans in the area. That doesn't explain why they have to be such sycophants for them.
It just strikes me as amazing that if they wrote an article like this for a Democrat that it would serve as evidence for liberal tilt ... but if they do it for Republicans, it's merely because they have to acknowledge Republicans in the state? Seriously, whose bias is laid bare by that conclusion?
Right. That's why they never do glowing, sycophantic pieces on Democrats like Rick Noriega, Melissa Noriega, Bill White, Peter Brown..................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Ok, ok, I can understand why you wouldn't want to claim Peter Brown, who shows up at every Republican event he can get into.
I think you border on proving my point for me, John. Namely in the fact that there hasn't been a glowing writeup on several of those you list. But I'd be real interested to see you offer links to each of the above with maybe a brief recap of how and why it proves bias - and preferably from news coverage or columns as opposed to editorials where there generally is more motivation to give a direct "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" analysis. I offer actual examples to the contrary in stating my case. I've yet to see a single Houston area blogger do the same to prove their side.
I'd just be real interested to see is you or any of the others who are emotionally and intellectually invested in the notion of a liberal Houston Chronicle could actually - ya know - prove it. Or is that asking too much? My bet is that if you or any of the others were to actually follow whatever bit of logical reasoning it is you believe this week on a consistent basis about the evidence of liberal bias at the Chron, you run too great a risk of proving yourselves factually incorrect. That's why I don't think we'll ever see you guys do it. But I dare you nonetheless.
Gee, it's good to know KBH is not interested in becoming Vice President, although my black lab probably has as good a chance.
Actually, my first reaction after reading the article was to wonder whether she actually wants Democrats to take more seats in the next Congress and to elect a Democrat as president. Complaining about her financial insecurities seems a sure way to convince voters that she is totally disconnected from the realities of our lives - as if there was remaining doubt about that question.
