An Early High School Football Note (Stratford Edition)

I'm about a month behind in noting a high school football item of interest - that being that Andrew Luck of Stratford (and son of Oliver Luck) is verbally committed to playing at Stanford after he graduates. Fortunately for Houstonians, he's got one more year at Stratford High School. I'm partial to Stratford since they cranked out two great Coogs of my day - David & Jimmy Klingler - and also for the fact that their prior head coach (Oscar Cripps) was a teammate of my dad's at Galveston Ball back in the 60s.

Having seen Oliver Luck play in college and for the Oilers, the kid obviously has a few things working in his favor. If he's half as good as his dad was, he'll go far. Probably worth catching a game or two (or more). Be sure to check out dad giving son some coaching tips in this video ...

UPDATE: There's some footage here of Luck in action this week (and in his own words) at the 7-on-7 tournament.
