WaPo Conference: "What Do We Know?"

The latest Washington Post story conference:

A couple of worthwhile points to consider on Hillary. Namely, the point of Cillizza, et al, is that while Team Hillary may think that her record has been thoroughly explored and vetter, the point remains that a Presidential race is still different. And it follows that even more information will come out in an effort to do what Halperin & Harris describe in "The Way to Win" as character hijacking.

I don't quibble with that. But what I will suggest is missed in that analysis is that both Clintons know a thing or two about fighting back effectively. THAT is where I arrive at having greater trust in Hillary to weather that storm than I do with Obama or Edwards or Richardson. You can coach someone on the nuances of policy and message ... but you can't coach resilience. And if there's anyone that has more than the Clintons, I'd love to hear about them.

The recent "book primary" that Hillary has already had to endure is a telling sign - and an optimistic one at that. Jeff Gerth, in particular, went for the kill. The result? Hillary's up in the polls. 'Nuff said.

This is a big part of the reason I've been arguing Hillary > Obama for a while. Obama's support is much softer than Hillary's and his numbers are more likely to go down than hers. BOR posted these numbers a while back: in Texas, 73% of Hillary supporters are not shopping around for other candidates, but only 29% of the Obama contingent said the same.
