Fifty Mags
» Chicago Tribune: Our 50 Favorite Magazines
Fifty favorites and here's the only ones I share with the entirety of the Chicago Tribune:
» The New Yorker: if nothing else, it keeps me motivated to pay the town a visit sometime before I'm done.
» Esquire: the only magazine I'll pay top dollar for to get one article out of each issue.
» Harvard Business Review: I'd love to just leave this stated on here to make me sound all smart, but in reality, I'll peek through the issue to see if there's one or two articles worth the $17 or so for the mag. If I leave with a copy, that's my mag budget for the month. If not, I hit the current events section.
That's it ... three out of fifty. To their credit, I love that they include Southwest Airlines' Spirit magazine. But rounding out my own list is as follows:
» New Republic: too easy
»: Democracy Journal: even easier
» Blueprint: not the Martha Stewart rag, but the one from the DLC. Again ... too easy
» Communication Arts: my one obscure, semi-avant garde entry.
» Foreign Affairs: not always when the issue is released, but eventually.
»: Washington Monthly: sadly, I get most of this online for free these days. But if there's an author I need to read that's behind the firewall, I'm an easy sell for the dead tree edition.
» Newsweek: my one concession to the major newsweeklies.
