» KHOU: City of Houston to build skateboard park near downtown

The city of Houston wants to turn some green space near downtown into a skateboard park.

The 30,000 acre site, which will include rails and half-pipes, is scheduled to open next summer.

Mayor White will announce the name of the new park Thursday.

It will be located next to the Sabine Street Bridge.

So this presumed park - just outside of downtown - would rake up more space than the Reliant Stadium complex?

If only that were true, then I guess the "10% Club" might have something to attack the city over. Alas, I'm tipped off that the project is really 30,000 square feet. Based on the skatepark setup I saw at CityFest last year, that sounds more like it.
