Damned if Kottke - of all places - doesn't have one of the best, succinct, scientific explanations of the talking points phenomenon. At some point, I've got to dig around for a copy of the study. Hmmm ... that might kill any hope of an opening in the personal schedule. Ah well - wouldn't be the first time.
