'Tis the Season: City Council Election Name-dropping

Alex (another quality Sharpstown kid), over at Houstonist drops names in the race for Houston City Council, District D. The four names noted may include some of the few that ultimately end up near the top in November. But I fully expect the field to be even more crowded. What I don't know is where the anti-Allen contingent settles in this race. Lawrence Allen, Jr. being the son of State Rep. Alma Allen. We had a little ounce of dynastic brushback in District B race - ultimately won by Jarvis Johnson, not a good omen for the Allens.

All the info I have in this race is secondhand impressions of people. I think there's an opening since Gerald Womack bowed out for someone to get in and make some headway against Allen. But on the other hand, Lawrence Allen's situation isn't quite the parallel of Felicia Galloway-Hall's. So wait and see how it pans out once the field is set.

For my taste, it's another great moment to know that it ain't my 'hood, so I don't have to get into the middle of it. MJ Khan looks to have a smoother ride to re-election this time. It's his final term. So two years from now oughtta be hectic in District F. For now, I'll settle on getting Melissa Noriega on council and adding to the final score with a pickup of Michael Berry's seat in November.
