Things Seen in My 'Hood
» 37 EARS STRONG
A sign atop the big flea market in Gulfton along the Southwest Freeway. I really feel sorry for that 19th guy.
» Makin' Hoes Hate 247
Seen on the back of a 10-12 year old girl at the grocery store. I'm not talking some Jon Benet Ramsey-type of 10 yr old, either. We're talking plump, homely, a face only a mother could love ... the whole two yards. It was all I could do to prevent myself from asking her mother (who, for better or worse, was with her) what it was, exactly, that her daughter did that made hoes hate her so much.
I'm sure there were weirder things to take note of, but after that last one, I kinda tuned out the rest of the world in my quest for inexpensive root beer.
UPDATE: Oh, and courtesy of the Chronicle, here's some nice headlines from my slightly broader 'hood ...
»: Chron: Fire destroys southwest Houston storage unit
»: Chron: Man dies in southwest Houston shooting
Just another day ...

Re: man dies in Southwest Houston
Came across this, which I thought was pretty funny:
http://www.bayoucitymadman.blogspot.com/
That is hilarious ... thanks for the linkage. I didn't look up the addresses that didn't ring a bell with me, so I'm glad this blogger did. It's a valid complaint that anything that happens in the southwest quadrant of the city relative to 801 Texas tends to get lumped in as Southwest Houston.
It's bad enough that I have a hard time placing Sugar Land, Alief, Briarforest, Meyerland, Gulfton, and Sharpstown all in the same classification used by the Chron.
