A Thankful Megapost ...
Yes, it's a day of giving thanks, and I've been at it all day long. Of course, one of the smaller things I'm thankful for is not having to spend Black Friday waiting in long lines shopping for a $10 toaster oven. Of course, I've never owned a toaster oven in my entire life, so I wouldn't know what to do with one even if I did want one that bad.
Anyways, the news never ends, so the blogging must go on ...
- One more little tidbit for Friday's big game: The FWST reports that Trinity likes to run the ball. Amazing, ain't it? The AP is already on the beat as well, with a more general overview of the situation.
- Back to politics, the San An paper had a little writeup last week on the CD23 runoff and how Henry Cuellar might want to use it as a means of patching up his somewhat checkered record as a Democrat. I won't pass myself off as a fan of Cuellar's but my quibbles with him have not been anywhere near as extreme as that of most Dems. At the end of the day, he represents a pretty moderate district and, not surprisingly, he votes that way. Still, if the "rumblings" of his interest in a run against Cornyn are to be believed, you'd think that lending a helping hand to Ciro would be a rather critical signal on his part.
About that Senate run, I've got to wonder if the far leftwing of the blogosphere will be true to their words when they say that folks like Ben Nelson don't bother them because they represent an otherwise Republican state. If Cuellar were to somehow be sworn into office as the next Texas Senator, that's still an upgrade over John Cornyn. A part of me hopes that we get just such a test - not to mention that we have a great statewide Hispanic candidate, which I suggest Cuellar would be. But I'm not willing to put a lot of faith in a Cuellar for Senate run just yet.
- I don't know how many times I'm going to have to say this, but "Married With Children" was not put on television to inspire.
Case in point ...
