Of 800-pound Gorillas and Partisan Warfare

New Hope for Democrats in Bid for Senate - New York Times

I'm sifting through this article on the prospects of a Democratic Senate, getting kinda bored with it around the halfway mark and then comes this to add a chuckle to my day:

Mr. Schumer said, “The 800-pound gorilla is the money the R.N.C. is pouring into those races.�

I'm not the biggest Schumer hater or apologist in the world, but I read that and thought "Gee, what a great snap at Howard Dean!" Dean, of course, another that I'm somewhere between hater and apologist ... but this is the point in the game where Dean either wilts or sprouts. The dump trucks are going to come pouring in with cash and their trucks will be bigger than ours. Will it be enough to bail out the GOP? Do Dems in those battleground states (and Congressional districts) have solid 6-week out battleplans? Guess we'll see when we see.
