Sordid Saipan (take two)
Typical "blame the victim" mentality. What does it take for a single, lone rightwing blogger to suggest that, maybe, possibly, potentially, this is over the top? ... a blue dress? ... a Kennedy on a bender?
Further sickening is Ralph Hall's attempt to fend off the attack (in an atrocity of journalism that once more mocks the fairy tale of a "liberal media"):
“I feel sorry for anyone who wants to be elected bad enough to defile someone’s character, he said. “That’s an outright lie.
Yeah, Ralph, I feel sorry for it too. Less sorry to see you flee the Democratic Party, of course. Enjoy your new home in the mainstream of today's Republican Party.
Want more? No? Well here's some anyway (circa 1997):
Some Republicans in Congress agree. Rep. Dick Armey, House majority leader, and Rep. Tom DeLay, House majority whip, assured [CNMI Gov. Froilan C.] Tenorio this week in a letter that any legislation that would "harm the economic, social or political well being of the CNMI is counter to the principles of the Republican Party, and this Congress has no intention of voting on such legislation." The two commended the islands for their commitment to ending labor problems.
What part of that do I really need to emphasize? The followup letters to the editor by the foster parent, as well as a PR toadie add a bit more light to whatever pathetic view one needs to get a clearer image.
