Trojan-watch: Waco
Well, it was only a 4A team. But in our defense, it was a state-ranked 4A team. Sorry Waco.
FW S-T: Trojans march to easy victory
Waco Trib: Lions caged by Euless Trinity, 44-7
DMN: Box Score & recap
Still a lot of penalties, which seems like the Curse of Lineweaver. Next week is a big game as we avenge our only loss of last season. I'm expecting nothing short of brutality.
Telling omen from the game, here?
Trinity, which never punted, was able to control the game despite starting its backup quarterback (Dillon Swingle) and fullback (Robinson). Starting quarterback Ryan Taggart and starting fullback Mao Leota are still recovering from injuries....
Trinity continued to rotate its tailbacks. Shannon Moore started and rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Justise Campbell rushed for two touchdowns and 102 yards on 11 carries.
Definitely a better showing by Campbell, but stats in games such as these are deceptive. I mean, sheesh, 44-7. Two interceptions of Waco's QB and a blocked punt lead to short scoring drives and the one fumble they lost was returned for a TD. Our total offense was a mere 285 yards. That's good when you've got offensive linemen that can bully a scrub team. The penalties, however, are a concern for when the games start becoming bigger.
