It Begins ...

Kevin Kolb's senior season begins tonight at Rice. It should be a great season, even if it comes due in part to a weak schedule. I'm as good as booked for the UTEP game since that may well decide which of the two goes to the CUSA title game. For us oldtimers, it does the heart good to see another quarterback wearing #4 in Cougar Red honoring it as well as Kolb has.

Meanwhile, Ronnie Turner breaks the bad news to me that the Houston Texans have cut Antowain Smith from the team. Antowain was a thrill to watch at UH back in the day and I'll happily point out that nothing can take the two Super Bowl rings away from him.

On a more lighthearted note, still more props to Jennifer Ringwald for taunting the Rice Owl students in attendance at last night's Molly & the Ringwalds show. Clearly, her talents go well beyond singing. It seems the band has seen the light on being YouTubed for their own posterity/humor/egos and there may well be some more video of them from time to time. 'Bout time.
