After All This Time ... A Special Session

Perry sets Nov. 7 as election day for DeLay's seat

Well, you just knew the Texas GOP wasn't going to give up that easily, right? Ever since the Great Replacement Plan became a self-evident bust, it's been similarly evident that the only hope the GOP has is to try and discredit a now inevitable Nick Lampson win for the full term.

This could work out that way. The irony is that, after scaring off David Wallace, the only way it works is if there's a handful of Republicans in the special election ... sortofa reverse scenario of the CD23 race in San An. If it's a head-to-head with Dermatologist/City Councilwoman Shelley S-R-G, I'm not sure I have a prediction on what could happen there. But if a runoff happens in the special election, I have a hard time seeing Lampson winning that unless there's a lot more drive in Dem votes than I feel like I've seen or heard about.

Another twist to all this ... that $3 million check from the NRCC to Team Shel. If the aim is to really just discredit Lampson's full-term win, are the National GOP types doing themselves any favors by trying to educate folks on how to dial in enough of Shelli's name to pass muster? Wouldn't it make more sense to just go all out trying to get people to vote on that last screen of the eSlate instead?

But who am I to tell the other side how to accomplish ... well ... whatever is they were hoping to accomplish. We Dems have it a far cry easier this go-round. Making a change in Washington is just a simple matter of voting for Nick Lampson.

Twice.
