Obama: Nice talk, but he doesn't walk the walk
So it seems our friend on the angry Republican right, Kevin Whited - the same Kevin who's too afraid to let people who disagree with him comment on his blog; the same Kevin who's too afraid to get into a debate he knows he'll lose; the same Kevin who fancies himself a media critic yet can't take criticism himself - takes a cowardly way out of commenting on a post of mine ... through Furl comments. Seriously Kevin, it's not I who have banned you from commenting. You're more than welcome to leave an actual comment, get in a serious discussion, etc .... Anyways, here's what the angry right has to say about Obama's recent speech:
Obama talks a nice game, but to quote Orrin Judd, "Of course, Senator Obama ran against gay marriage because his faith compelled him to oppose it then voted against the Amendment and has a 100% pro-abortion voting record." Obama is as big a phony as certain members of the reading challenged community who argue Dems are pro-life and Republicans are not! Ha ha ha ha. Phonies.
There's so much about this to chuckle at in his latest. Let's take it line by line, shall we?
For starters, I think it's worth ignoring someone as areligious as Kevin when it comes to critiquing someone's speech on faith. More than a few of us who believe in Christ don't believe that our faith is reduced to two singular issues: gay marriage and abortion. If that's the stereotype that our Republican friends want to peddle, I'm not one to help them save their own party from committing such foolishness. By all means, keep sending voters our way. We'll take 'em.
As for Kevin's name-calling, spittle-flecked rant at the end, this is where I can't help but laugh. See, when I crack on Kevin, I usually quote him. Then, like clockwork, he goes on another spittle-flecked rant about how I'm taking him out of context. But he can't escape his own words. He's the one who says them, not me.
Yet, Kevin's critique of me very rarely involves an actual quote. Instead, it involves some inane characterization that I've never made and that Kevin can never support with an actual quote. Then it degenerates into the rank childishness that Kevin's pretty much known for these days. Oh, and there's always some third-gradish namecalling insults added.
Typical. Except that trying to hide the commentary in Furl comments instead of, oh ... actually blogging them, or leaving a comment, or even drop an email ... no, not when there's a more chickenhawkish way around it. That part's new. Way to sink, bro!
This is really fun, because Greg let me know that the same thing is happening with some of my blog entries. Never having had a stalker before, it's kind of exciting. And I feel like I am getting to read the secret minutes of the Offical Liberal-Haters He-Man Club that meets in the treehouse next door (till Mom calls everyone in for lemonade). It's fun!
Wait ... there's lemonade involved now?
