A Win For the Webb

Webb Wins Democratic Senate Nomination

With nearly 97% of the vote in, former Reagan Navy Secretary Jim Webb has a hair under 54% of the vote in Virginia's Democratic primary. What will be interesting to see is whether there is any lingering resentment by the Miller folks who are justified in feeling that Chuck Schumer and the DSCC used too sharp of an elbow nudge in offing someone that struck many Virginians (the real ones, not Tom DeLay) as a good candidate. As much as I'm happy to see Webb switch sides and make a high-level run at someone who may well be a Presidential candidate for the GOP, I'm not sure that Schumer helped the cause. Maybe those hurt feelings go away as quickly as they appear to have in Ohio. Dunno. For now, an upset win in Virginia is still something nice to root for.

Oh, one sidenote worth taking some pride in: Webb won Wythe county 218-195. Way to represent!
