Applauding from the Press Booth

... and they say there's no applauding in the press booth? Apparently whoever said that never made it to Blogger Alley at the Texas Democratic Convention.

Anyways, the kids have landed (present company included). I'm on the floor now with Wes Clark chatting up the crowd. I've partaken in some free food ... a little press access. I've restrained myself from causing a scene upon meeting the Chron's own Kristen Mack. All in all, a productive day so far.

Unfortunately, there's no power source on the floor here in Blogger Alley, so I'll have more later. Kuff's done some Q&A with Shane Sklar, who may well be one of the coolest candidates for my money come November. Nobody's picked a fight over the "Democrats for Life" sticker or the "Joe 2004" sticker. But the night is young and the Blogger Caucus/Party/Midnight Rager has yet to get started.

So stay tuned. I'll have more to say after I've had a drink or two.

UPDATE (Don't Quote Me On That Edition):
"I may be a geek, but I am not dancing to Journey. Don't quote me on that!" - Charles Kuffner
(upon Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" at the close of Wes Clark's speech)

UPDATE: (Hangin' With the Homeboys Edition):
So I've met every candidate under the sun and Pete Laney mingles among us. The convention floor? Hell no. Try the totally kick-a## Blogger Rave at the Flying Saucer.

Clark used a song by Journey?

This is bad. Very, very bad.

Last week, as predicted, Jim Craig entered to Mellencamp. The odd thing was that he chose "Small Town". Keep in mind Jim brags about being "a lifelong resident of Manchester". Manchester is a city of 110,000, complete with an international airport, double-A baseball and a hockey team that averages close to 10,000 people per game.

I stuck with the Dropkick Murphys, by god!

Kuff would share your anti-Journey agenda. Personally, I have no truck with them but would have much preferred to hear "Raised on Radio."

But that's me.

"Don't Stop Believin'" is now the exclusive property of the Chicago White Sox baseball club. Any use of the accounts or descriptions of that song without the express written permission of the Chicago White Sox and Major League Baseball is strictly prohibited.

Allright, I spend WAAAAY too much time listening to baseball on the radio...
