Sorry, been under the weather lately, so blogging takes a hit. For now ...
Michael Crowley notes a spending cut coming out of the DeLay "resignation" scenario. In this case, it's the Sugar Land Energy Center. Question now ... if George Bush is thinking about getting Uncle Sam out of the do-nothing oil research business, why is Rick Perry's $1.6 million not questioned by anyone? Seriously, it's time to pull the plug on that boondoggle. Any takers from the right that might be willing to live up to their "conservative" label?
Virginia Senator and 2008 Presidential hopeful has a "youthful indiscretion" problem, it seems. In this case, it involves his affinity for the confederate flag. I'm not sure why Ryan Lizza devotes so much attention to George's cowboy boots, but the flag, the noose, and the private club that was rejected by so many of Allen's predecessors may very well be a serious problem for him ... not just in 2008, but if James Webb gets his hooks in him.
The death of conservatism continues it's sad, pathetic descent. This time, I'd have to agree with Sullivan 100%.
Looks like the Texans are passing on UT's Vince Young. That shouldn't surprise anyone, but it will likely lead to the worst possible reception for a player (Reggie Bush) that by most predictions is capable of having a Hall of Fame career if he stays healthy. Bush is clearly the best fit for the locals, but don't fear for Vince ... if he heads to Tennessee as most predict he will, he's got a good situation he walks into.
Via Kottke, a bit of insight for the day. This time from a couple of movie directors: Errol Morris (Fog of War) and Adam Curtis (The Power of Nightmares). Part 2 on "Notional Moles" is required reading for anyone curious why our friends on the so-called right want more "balance" in the news.
Roy Malonson ... still out of touch with reality. Absolutely bewildering read on his defense of whatever it is his position on the race is/was/might oneday be. The last paragraph of this may well go down as the most laughable read of this entire race. And considering that the Chron's Kristen Mack devoted an article to Borris' cufflinks, that says something!
