Miles v Edwards: The Televised Debate

If you've remembered to "spring forward" properly and you're up before 9am, feel free to tune into the local WB39 public affairs show this morning. It's Borris Miles against some cheerleader-obsessed Republican.

Afterwards, there's blockwalking afoot all over the district. Drop a line if you want in on the fun. That assumes you didn't make the ill-advised effort of starting an Al Edwards drinking game, whereby you take a shot everytime Al Edwards lies about his record.

UPDATE: liveblogging the broadcast ...

Al Edwards ... "It's not a tax bill, it's a property reduction bill." Freudian slip, I'm sure ;-)

Al says the Hochberg amendment didn't pass? Gee, that's news. He goes on to say he's against raising the sales tax as a means to reduce property taxes. That stands in stark contrast to his vote in the last regular session.

How do each candidate plan to improve economic opportunity, quality of life? Al Edwards ... he'll go back to being on the appropriations committee. Borris ... allow schools to offer a proper education, increase first-time homebuyer programs, adds the comment that seniority and sitting on the right committees are for naught when you do nothing with them. Pretty sure we all know who that shot is aimed at.

Borris: "Even if I'm a one man majority, I'll always vote the interest of my district."

Edwards: takes credit for creating the CHIP program. takes credit for blocking emminent domain. Oh, and he's somehow "saved" TSU. From what, I'm not sure. "District 146 is one of the most improved districts in the state." He uses that line a lot. I'm not sure what quantitative measure he's using for that, though. Nobody else is, either.
