Runoff in HD48
Burnt Orange Report - District 48 Election Results Thread
Congratulations to Donna Howard over in HD48. She missed a runoff-less win by a mere 73 votes and looks to be in superb condition for the runoff since the first round had one R and 2 Ds (plus an L). The combined D vote was 60%. A win here represents a net gain of one seat for us since this is the seat that Republican, Todd Baxter resigned. That's one less vote for Perry's school finance wet dream when the special session rolls around in April or thereabouts. And last I checked, there sure were a lot of bills that just magically passed by a single vote in the lege this past year.

Actually, the Dems will be up 2 votes (over the special sessions) with the Houston District 143. Granted, it's not a Dem pickup, but it is a vote that will not be able to be cast because the seat has been filled. Even better for us.
True dat.
