Waller County Campaign Season

In the spirit of evenhandedness, and due to a hot stock tip for the post reaching my inbox before my RSS reader, Chris Elam has a good read on campaign season in Waller County.

As some of us locals may recall, Waller County is the scene of something of a battle between a few local electeds and the student population at Prairie View A&M (an historically black college).

It will remain to be seen whether or not Prairie View student voters see the need to vote on behalf of a GOP candidate that, if nothing else, shares the radical belief that college students should be allowed to vote. But I'm reasonably sure there are ways in which students can work to ensure, after a presumed April runoff decision for the crowded GOP field in SD18, that voting rights will not be a point of difference between the GOP nominee and our own nominee, Bret Baldwin.
