It could only be called ugly, very ugly ... at least from my UH perspective. It must have been some macabre death wish that allowed me to sit through the ordeal to the final whistle. The Coogs just got manhandled by the Jay Hawks.
Kolb looked like he was throwing the ball a million miles an hour on just about every pass. Compared to two years ago, that struck me as uncharacteristic of him. Looked a little like a stressed out NFL rookie who was trying to make too much happen on his own.
Then again, there's nothing special about our special teams ... and that showed in spades.
One thing that REALLY stood out with me was the Coog's inability to make a tackle. I may have seen that much lackadaisical arm-tackling before but I'm damned if I can recall when or where. It certainly wasn't that the Jay Hawks were supermen but rather that the Coogs seemed to be moving at half-speed - both physically and mentally. I can only repeat that it was just ugly. A lot of standing around waiting for their teammate to make the tackle and very little pop in their hits. They were whipped mentally at the start of the second half and it just kept going downhill. The Jay Hawks showed up to play and the Coogs ... well, I don't know if they really even showed up. I can only hope that the Coogs learn from this drubbing and improve next year.
