Commentary, Revisited

Mark Campos (12/7/05):

Check out this quote from this past Sunday's Austin American Statesman: "I've never believed we do any good by just running a token who gets trounced into the ground." From former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk, errrr, Kamikaze Candidate revisited?

Mark Campos (12/9/05):

I don't know what is going to happen tomorrow night but I like our chances.

To all of those - and there were many - that privately told me you were rooting for my candidate but couldn't publicly say so because the other side might make things miserable for you - thanks.

And in the end .... It has been a long and challenging seven months. This one will go up alongside '82, '88, '92, and '99 - campaigns that help define the Houston Latino political landscape. Good luck and props to La Sabrosita - it has been a pleasure.

Campos' candidate, Laura Salinas, lost the race for Joe Moreno's old seat, winning a mere 38%. Somebody might want to revisit this whole kamikaze thing one more time.
