Scoop Lives!

Just some good blogging here by Bull Moose. Unbeknownst to me, there's a Henry Jackson Society ... in England? Odd, I wasn't aware of Boeing having sales good enough for Scoop to get his brand of politics over to the UK.

Still, with all the current Weicker fascination in response to Joltin' Joe's latest utterances, I think some of the current insanity on the netherreaches of the left deserve to be pointed out and called out for condemnation.

But go ahead and run a failed former Governor who bailed out of office after sinking to the mid-30s in polls back in the day. Prop the sleeping bear up with all the MoveOn money you can muster ... and then find something else to complain about after you've wasted all that energy only to see Joe re-elected. I'm waiting for precisely that moment.

SIDENOTE: I'll take a Paul Harvey-esque turn here by doing something along the lines of "... and now for the rest of the story." I caught this story on Joe's call for a bipartisan War Cabinet yesterday. On the whole, not a bad idea. But one bad quote deserves a highlight on my part:

"It's time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge he'll be commander-in-chief for three more years," the senator said. "We undermine the president's credibility at our nation's peril."

No problem with the first part ... but the second part is a bit problematic. Problematic because it's the administration's own actions that have undermined their credibility, nothing that anyone on the left has done (unless we're counting such things as pointing out very obvious flaws in rationale).

I agree wholeheartedly that there has to be an emerging bipartisan consensus on how to wrap up Iraq so that it belongs to Iraqis themselves. We're seeing that in the Senate. We're not seeing that in the House and the far reaches of ideological activists. But unlike Joe, I'll go so far as to suggest that consensus is a two way street that the administration has yet to locate on a map. When they do, I don't think it'll be too difficult to find Dems of good faith to work with. But someone best help them dig through the glove compartment for the time being.
