Early Numbers ...
I'm not all that big on analyzing early vote numbers for much, but here's one point that ought to stand out: As a percentage of the 2003 vote (when there was a red hot Mayoral race), the areas coming closest to the early vote totals in that year are as follows:
Clear Lake - 96%
Marriot Westside - 88%
Spring Branch Annex - 87%
Kingwood - 81%
Those are areas with over 2000 votes cast ... and not a Dem stronghold closeby to a one of 'em. The countywide total is 70% of the early vote from 2003. Here's some Dem areas:
Acres Homes - 44%
Sunnyside - 45%
Palm Center - 50%
Kashmere - 51%
Power Center - 53%
Alief - 59%
How much longer before we Dems put together a concerted GOTV program?

Years, unless White runs for governor in 2006 instead of 2010. I challenge the Democratic Party to identify even 5 Democratic precinct chairs in Harris County who canvass their precincts door to door (not just drop leaflets right before Election Day) and keep an updated database of the results. Even the folks teaching the workshops on "how to organize your precinct" do not do this. In the days of Billie Carr, it was gospel; today it is ancient history.
Ouch!
Literally. My back still aches from canvassing my entire precinct a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, there hasn't been time to update my database b/c I've been spread too thin helping others.
Hope you'll have some patience with this freshman precinct chair, Dalicious;-)
Good for you, Aimee! Now to find four more ...
Emily Walker, Barbara Quattro, Gordon Weisser and Perry Dorrell.
All fairly new like me and haven't been tainted by the infighting in the Party yet.
We don't know the full skinny on our precincts yet but give us some time.
That infighting though, it's a killer.
