Dear Lobbyist ...

Renzi tries to distance himself from 'poor district' fundraising message - 2005-09-22

Novel approach to raising money for your campaign: openly slam your own district as poor and void of donors.

Rick Renzi, of Arizona, has taken that precise approach:

According to the Roll Call story, the Renzi for Congress e-mail request for funds says the second-term Republican needs financial backing from D.C. because it's hard to raise money in his rural district.

Renzi communications director Joe Brenckle said the e-mail came from a fundraising company and the congressmen was not aware of its content nor did he consent to its distribution before it was sent.

"This was a terrible choice of words and does not represent the congressman's views," Brenckle said.

I'm sorry ... the buck stops WHERE?
