Hurricane Rita: The REO Speedwagon Crowd

One nifty check on the status here in town is the Chronicle's new blog: Stormwatchers. It's a blog of other Houstonians "riding the storm out." Surprisingly, there's writers holing up in Lamarque and Clear Lake ... RIGHT SMACK DAB in the line of fire. Part of me wants to salute their bravery, but I suspect there's a fine line between that and foolhardiness. Laurence Simon (Houston's own "Mr. Crap" ) is writing from relatively close to my neck of the woods.
