Who Is Steve Brown?
Via Texas Weekly: ($$$, but the RSS version is free)
Steve Brown, a lobbyist and former legislative staffer, says he'll challenge Rep. Dora Olivo, D-Rosenberg, in HD-27
Curious why Brown wants to take on this race when SD17 still needs a candidate. Anyone know anything about the guy?

I'd be interested to know if Steve Brown is a pro-choice Democrat, seeing as how Rep. Olivo is not. Also, SD-17 includes some areas where the populations are not known for their tolerance of people who are different than they are.
Clarification: Not all of HD 27 is in SD 17 -- some of it is in SD 18.
I met Democrat Steve Brown after a Harris County Republican Pct. Chairs meeting last May. He does NOT live in Fort Bend County and thefore has neither an address in SD 18 or 17 but then again Hubert Vo didn't live in Alief until he was running for the lege and Mario Gallegos still gets a homestead exemption in the rich white Republican area where he actually lives while running to represent the Mexican American area where his mama lives in the Texas Senate.
Some of Dora Communista Olivo's district is also in SD 13 but wouldn't it be so much more fun if a Republican ran against Dora the Destroya Olivo and a Demo ran against Charlie "Redistrictin" Howard.
Isn't that what American should really be abt and what is really sad is for the last decade Olivo and Howard have driven from Fort Bend to Austin to do nothing but cancel eachother out on all issues and not even meet on alledgely non partisan issues like building UofH in Fort Bend or expanding US 59 in Fort Bend.
They both are extremists that need opponents.
Greg: I patched this story after discovering I was looking at a bad set of numbers the first time around. Essentially the same, but the district analysis is that it's solidly Democratic. -rr
I was wondering if anyone had any info on steve brown. I live in his district, but I cant seem to find out any info on who he is or where he comes from. I guess im just too impatient. If someone can help me out I would be very greatful.
