Hangin' With Chris Bell

We're a few minutes away ... the cool bloggers table is in business, a decent crowd on hand, copy of the speech in front of me, and the two kids modelling Chris Bell campaign wear are taking over the stage as if to warm up for Chris. They're wearing pants, too. Good to see that.

2:05 ... AC/DC's "Hell's Bells" is wafting through the air of UT's campus, along with Damon's cigar.

2:20 ... The Bell has tolled. Houstonian Marlen Whitley gave one hell of an introduction. Al Edwards just lost one hell of a primary challenger, but Chris Bell's gain appears far larger.

2:30 ... "We're going to reduce the number of abortion in Texas by telling our kids the truth about how not to get pregnant in the first place." Amen!

2:32 ... "My Pact with Parent starts with doing everything I can to reform the most corrupt state government in a generation. Corporate cash is infecting our elections, and corporate lobbyists are stopping any chance for progress." Another Amen!

2:XX ... Back to Marlen's rousing intro. I should add that a small part of my gloating there was due to hearing a few lines from this fair blog.

2:36 ... "We also need to find the moral courage to accept the hard truth that no one will win the trench warfare between the pro-life and pro-choice armies until we reclaim the common ground. Let's start by applying something as radical as common sense to the problem and say we're going to reduce the number of abortion in Texas by reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies.

You can't have it both ways - you can't say you're against abortion and then work so diligently to prevent young people from having what they need to avoid getting pregnant in the first place"

More later ... gotta see how much time I get in at the press avail. If not a lot, then a big ol recap tonight. This was easily the best I've seen Chris deliver a speech.
