"Draft Sharp"???
Via Kuff, we get this. Rejoice, Sharpies of the world ... 48 people (as of this typing) want John Sharp to run for Governor. Wonder what the magic number is for him to claim "overwhelming support across the state." Granted, Kelly Fero hasn't left a comment yet ... HEY! 49!!!!
What's really interesting about the site is that it's registered privately. Funny, I would have thought that a site encouraging others to leave comments with, presumably, a real name to denote REAL support would at least have the wherewithal to have their REAL name left on the domain registration.
UPDATE: Another item of interest from the news section of the site. Here's the ONLY item on there in over a year:
August 04, 2005 Source: Austin American-StatesmanNo word on whether former Comptroller John Sharp of Austin will seek the Democratic gubernatorial nod, though sidekick Kelly Fero recently opined online that Sharp has the "bipartisan appeal, the experience, and the proven vote-getting record to beat" GOP Gov. Rick Perry. Unsaid: Perry edged Sharp for lieutenant governor in 1998. And Sharp would be the underdog in '06.
Slow year, huh?

From Chris Bell's spokesman in a story in today's Austin paper about how the candidate spent two-thrids of what he raised on three consultants:
"We don't spend five seconds worrying about how much we're spending."
Your candidate's contributors might appreciate a little more respect for their hard-earned donations, not to mention Texas taxpayers if he ever got his hands on the state budget.
Blah, blah, blah ... as a Chris Bell donor and erstwhile super-subcontractor, I know that Chris has spent wisely on the infrastructure of his campaign. For what he's spent, he's made his way to every corner of the state, put together a quality web team, one of the state's best message teams, and everything else to boot. That's asking a lot of a candidate who was only in an exploratory phase for several months. He's now got the launch pad built and here you are whining about it. Sorry, just not buying this Kinky/Sharp spin. Try it on someone else who scares easily.
You Bell folks sure are an angry bunch. I guess we'll find out how many Texans you can convince with trash talk to vote for your candidate. Other than you and the three consultants taking all his money, that is.
That's hilarious ... have you even read some of the Kinky/Sharp comments left on blogs?
HEY! 98!
People who support Chris Bell and who are going to be involved in his campaign are excited about Chris' positive message and real leadership in taking this state back from the Republicans. If anyone is being "mean" or "angry", it's not coming from Chris or his supporters. You are projecting that all on yourselves. If your cynicism is keeping you from supporting a real Democrat who's in this race for the right reasons, then you do have something to be negative about, because that negativity is not coming from the Chris Bell team.
So just sit there screaming, with your hands over your ears, throw your tantrums while we Democrats change Texas for the better. Democrats support Democrats. If you're with Kinky, you are NOT a Democrat. Call yourself something else. If you're a John Sharp fan, you'll never convince progressive Democrats that sticking with the old broken politics of back-door dealings is going to move Texas forward. Chris Bell is going to help Democrats dig us out of the mess John Sharp got us in.
