The Liberal Media Tears Down DeLay?

Houtopia's all over this one, but I think it warrants some extra mention:

DeLay portrays attacks as threat to conservatives - Gebe Martinez/Houston Chronicle

So how does this bastion of leftward media tear down Tom DeLay today? Let us count the ways:

  • "Democrats have seized on him as a symbol of what they claim is abuse of power by Republicans. But so far, DeLay seems to be winning his fight for political survival."

  • "He is enormously popular with the GOP's conservative base ...."

Yeah, so remember ... the liberal media always targets conservative icons. But more importantly, remember that Tom DeLay is the personification of the conservative movement these days. You owe him that much.

Again ... liberal media, my ass.

I'll never forget those commies at the WSJ editorial page coming out against Delay! You know, if it were a Democrat in Delay's shoes, the WSJ would, of course, have a "fire him" editorial 3 times a week and then they'd sell their combined editorials as a book months later. But, even so... there are freaking free market Republicans out there who want to get rid of this guy because they see him as a liability to their own causes. Delay isn't in trouble because libs don't like him... libs have never liked him and never will. He's in trouble because he is seen as being damaging to conservatism by conservatives. It takes a special kind of F***-Up to achieve that.

Tom DeLay only derides the Judges, Courts, lawyers, the media and groups that tend to reflect the views of the common man in general, because he has not yet devised a plan to extract sufficient campaign contributions from these groups. When you live by the pay as you go plan, you die by the pay as you go plan. (figuratively Tom, that means I don't really mean die as in a pull the feeding tube death). Behold Newton's law as it applies to electoral politics. DeLay's past re-elections by inertia are being acted upon by outside forces that will alter the direction of future elections. It is entirely possible that every action of his will have an equal and opposite reaction in the voters in his District. Keep a keen eye on the events in the 22nd Congressional District over the next several months. To what extent can he ignore immutable laws? Tip O'Neill had one of the best.
