Belated Texas Tuesday ...

Tomorrow is the deadline for FEC reporting. With that in mind, a few nags worth passing along to raise a few spare bucks for candidates that are worth it:

  • Barbara Radnofsky - US Senate, Texas ... Barbara is hoping to bank in the neighborhood of $50k to start showing the big donors that she's worth investing in. Whether or not Barbara has primary competition or not is beside the point ... Texas Democrats would be wise to start chipping in some cash to get any bigger, more reluctant donors off the fence.

  • Richard Morrison - US Representative, Texas-CD22 ... always a wise investment. I really don't need to say anything more than that.

  • Chet Edwards - US Representative, Texas-CD17 ... Texas' most at-risk Democratic incumbent. Keep George Bush's hometown in the hands of good Democrats!

  • Hillary Clinton - US Senate, New York ... just to utterly piss off Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchison.

  • Bob Casey - US Senate, Pennsylvania ... Between knocking off Rick Santorum and supporting a great pro-life Democrat, Bob should just as well have the support of every type of Democrat known to mankind.

And even though there's no FEC reporting deadline, there's still some good local and state candidates that I'll think nothing of promoting:

  • Chris Bell for Texas Governor ... because we're well past the time for a change in leadership.

  • Jay Aiyer for Houston City Council ... because he's the best candidate running. Any candidate that can garner the endorsements of Richard Morrison, Chris Bell ... and Rob Mosbacher! ... I mean, come on.

So only Democrats are worth supporting?
    Well, that's idiotic...

Oh, so sorry ... you're going to have to try a little harder to pin that whole "partisan blindness" tag on me. As one who withstood a fair amount of heat over endorsing a statewide GOP candidate in 2004, who couldn't bring himself to vote for my own Congressional nominee, and donated funds to John McCain that same year, try the schtick elsewhere.

That said, I'm a Democrat - and a rather proud one at that. I'm not about to apologize for it, either. So yeah ... give to Democrats. It's better than the alternative.

I just keep hoping to find out here in the blogsphere some site, somewhere that doesn't turn out to be little more than a mouthpiece for a particular party. I thought I'd found it.
I guess I'm just disappointed once again.
All the best to you and yours,
    M. Redden
