Dear Chief Hurtt:

On the 13 of March 2005 at about 12.30 pm on Briar Glade a Hispanic male was spotted braking into a car trying to remove the stereo system? The residents of Brays Village East tried to capture this thief but they were afraid that he may have a gun because; he kept putting his hand in his pocket. Finally this thief took refuge in a home as his hide out. Many residents called the police by dialing 911, and off duty police officers who had been paid $3,400.00 per month to provide security for this Subdivision. About 4.5 hours later police showed up, by that time the thief had stolen a truck from this neighborhood. It is hard to believe that police had been called on a crime in progress and they show up 4.5 hours later. Someone could have gotten killed. Thanks to the Houston Police Department, "what a joyful day and an early Christmas for this thief ".These are the reasons why citizens are sick of this system.

I strongly believe that the Chief of Police needs to order an investigation into this matter and the responsible people or officers need to be reprimanded.
