Selective Outrage
So, with all the catcalls for Democrats to get with the program and fall in line, why are local pols going unnoticed when they happen to show up at Bush's Opt-Out Society Tour?
Sen. Gerald Dial, D-Lineville, attended the town hall meeting and applauded Bush for beginning dialogue on the fate of Social Security."I think he did a terrific job in explaining the problems that exist for future generations," Dial said. "We need to make sure they will have the same benefits and privileges that we do."
...
A Democratic political figure in the crowd, former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman, joined the thousands who turned out to hear the president's remarks.
"I think the debate is healthy, and it's very important. It's going to take an airing for a long time before any kind of decision is really able to be made," Siegelman said.
Hmm, would that be the same Don Siegelman who is looking at re-running for Governor in 2006? I can't help but notice that Lucy Baxter wasn't among those mentioned in this story.
But no ... Joe Lieberman is the real enemy here, right?
Puhleeze!
