Al Edwards: Stand Up and Be a Democrat!
Two recent votes that I think beckon me to call out my legislative neighbor to the south: Al Edwards.
Recently, Al was recorded as "Present, not voting" on two critical issues:
HB2 - the school finance bill that even several good Republicans couldn't bring themselves to stomach. Edwards is registered as Present.
HB3 - Edwards is on the House Ways & Means Committee that voted out the sales tax increase that the state GOP thinks beneficial for society. Again, Edwards was "Present, not voting."
So Al ... get off the shelf of irrelevance and pick a side to fight on. If you can't bother yourself to vote Democratic while representing as deep a blue region as there is, then by all means, disassociate yourself with being a DNC representative. The Texas GOP just moved forward on the biggest tax hike your constituents will see and the worst school finance bill that will gut school children in your district harder than most. And what do you have to say about this?
Nothing.

Greg,
I saw that Edwards was a PNV on HB2 final reading when I reviewed the online House Journals the other day. But, for the life of me, I can't find anything on HB3. Where'd you find the reference?
Of course, this would be much easier if the Lege would actually make it easy to find recorded votes rather than lumbering through the online House Journals!
The HB3 reference was from Quorum Report:
I received an email report on Friday announcing Edwards was the only Dem who voted FOR HB 2. I wonder if my correspondent was wrong, or if he changed his vote in the House Journal after the fact?
