Sarbanes Calls It Quits

Sarbanes to Forgo Another Senate Term

Damn shame ... the Senate loses untold IQ points when Sarbanes exits (and this on the heels of Moynihan's 2000 departure!). The $64,000 question now is which office does Baltimore mayor Martin O'Malley go for: Governor or Senator (personal hope: Gov). Many dollars below that, of course, would be whether or not Alan Keyes moves BACK to Maryland for another shot at finding ways to poll under 30% in a statewide race.

UPDATE: Much to my preference, O'Malley chimes in and states his intention to focus on the Governor's mansion:

Although Senator Sarbanes will be difficult to follow, the Democratic Party will have a very strong candidate ? whom I look forward to supporting. I will not seek his seat. We are laying the groundwork to run for governor.

Great ... now if he can do something about the dayglo green on his website.

Thanks a LOT!

Keyes moved to Illinois and we have forwarded all his mail. The Illinois Republicans bought him and we don't take returns at this register! ;)

We could have Doug Duncan for Governor and O'Malley for Senator. O'Malley has divided the Democrats with his spuport for slot machines. Baltimore is for it and the two Southern counties are against it. Those three counties determine who gets elected in Maryland.

After reading your update, I checked the Doug Duncan website to see if he declared himself out of the Senate race. He hasn't of yet. Interesting.
