Convenient Conservatism
Ya know, one good thing about conservatives ... they mean what they say and say what they mean. I mean, they really stick to their guns. You'd never see a conservative change an article-of-faith principle ... ever.
Um ... well, maybe not ....

This is actually very refreshing. Even as a loyal Democrat I've always been a proponent of limited government. Actually, I should say I favor limited government by virtue of being a historically traditional Democrat. That is traditional in a Jeffersonian sense and adhering to a political continuity that is still relevant today.
Unfortunately, Democrats have largely abandoned the concept of limited government because of the stigma of racial segregation that was attached to "States Rights". By doing so, we have surrendered to Republicans the process of how government is limited. In short, they limit who benefits from government not the size of government and certain doesn't protect our civil liberties.
I might add that I think it is amazing how short sighted we have become when Democrats that are more like our roots are called "New" and "Old" Democrats only go as far back as the New Deal. I think it was Scoop_Jackson_Democrat that wrote on this blog that Dean and followers think the Party began in 1984:).
