Bring it on Popcorn-boy!
Paul Newman in '06?Taking on Lieberman? That's the buzz..
So sayeth Eschaton ... hereby starting the netbuzz. Of course, I love the perfectly sane commentary such rumors elicit ....
I've been wondering for a while why Robert Redford and Paul Newman and people of their stature don't run for office. I hope we see more of this.
Brilliantly stated! Now we know where the far left places its heart and soul, I guess.
ADD-ON: Damn that Bull Moose for making a more rational and coherent argument than me:
The Moose has also observed a certain cannibalistic tendency emerging on the left that is attempting to purge fellow Democrats who don't follow the party line. The latest example is the suggestion on some prominent lefty blogs to run a primary opponent against Senator Lieberman to punish him for his support for Rice's nomination and the war. Here's some breaking news for the lefty Democrats - you should be adding to your numbers rather than decreasing them. Democrats must be about the politics of addition rather than subtraction. Democrats do not enjoy the luxury of driving centrists and even conservatives from their ranks.
Lefties may have their differences with Senator Lieberman, but he has loyally served the party as its vice presidential nominee and he is a deeply honorable and decent man. Don't succumb to the temptation to become just a mirror image of right wing Freepers. Left-wing cannibalism - an infantile disorder.
UPDATE 2.0: Irony overload:
You disagree with her vote on Pet Issue X? Fine. Every elected official will vote against one of your pet issues. Expect 100% agreement with anyone and you WILL be disappointed. Heck, there are fools wailing about Obama this and Obama that already, as though any senator or congressman or governor or anyone will ever heed your every wish.So disagree with actions X, Y, or Z if you must. But the vitriol sent her way here rivals that dished out by the Freepers. She doesn't deserve it, and I wish those people would chill. She's not the enemy.
The "Her" in question? Just another blue state Dem who voted for going into Iraq, for the Patriot Act, for Condi Rice's nomination, and recently made some overtures towards common ground with pro-lifers. Curious what the correllation between Hillary and Joe's votes are .... C'mon, Kos, show some principle (the consistent kind anyway) and egg on Spitzer to challenge Hillary. I mean, damn, there's all of two posts made after his Joe-bashing before he goes and whines about what a bunch of inane purists his own "netroots" are. Never diss your base, KOS ;-)

Should we vote for someone who has any government experience or for someone who can act?
I guess the thought is if Schwartzenneger can do it, why not Newman?

Only after they have 'retired' from the biz. Then, onto politics.
